Growing up, Funky gravitated towards Nintendo games and Nickelodeon media (particularly Spongebob Squarepants). According to Caleb, Funky's original screen name, funkykong245, resulted from the combination of the names "awesome245" (auto-generated on Nicktropolis) and "Funky Kong" (from Mario Kart Wii).
He is a part of the Sapphire DMVers and originally knew Mike in real life before the advent of Sapphire trips.
